Kindergarten

I know this time of year brings us millions of blog posts about the first day of school, but hello? It was a MAJOR event over here. First, let’s look at Catherine. She looks excited and giddy, but you can tell she’s nervous. Then, there’s Seth right behind her looking lost and melancholy. He misses the deadline for kindergarten next year by a few days, so he has two more years before he can join his sister at school. Joseph is in the background over there by the white board screaming like a velociraptor in pain. Juliet, of course, is strapped to my chest in the Moby Wrap. Oh, and on top of all this they had lost a child before I had arrived.

I didn’t cry. The night before is a totally different story. When we got home, Seth was so sad (he didn’t cry either, I was so proud!)–well, we both were, so he and I played the Wii all morning.

I showed up 25 minutes early to pick her up. She doesn’t ride the bus because we aren’t in the district, so I carpool with a friend. There is not a “protocol” for where the school choice kids go to get picked up, so I wanted to be waiting outside the door when they were let out of class. Joseph and Seth were bored out of their minds by the time she got out, but it all worked out fine. Oh, and they had found the missing kid (in case you were worried).

Gift for Abbey

I finished this cute drawing case (tutorial here) for my daughter’s friend and realized as I was finishing that I put the applique on the back….Maybe since she’s 5 she won’t notice! I’m not the type to take it apart and re-do it. In fact I have made so many pajama pants for my husband with one pocket towards the back and one toward the front I can’t even keep count anymore…hee.

It has six crayola twistables inside and a small pad of paper. Go check out the tutorial, it is a really inexpensive and fun gift!
